Othello City Council Election: Incumbents and Challengers Overview

OTHELLO – Two of the three incumbent city council members with open seats will face opponents in the November Election.

Kelli Camp filed to challenge incumbent Genna Dorow for council position one. Camp, a nurse anesthetist, ran unsuccessfully for an Othello School Board seat against Aaron Gerber in 2023. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Boise State University and a Post Master’s Certificate in Anesthesia from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Dorow has served on the city council since 2010. According to her LinkedIn biography, she is an office manager and owner at Pacific Dental Arts. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Central Washington University.

Because there are only two candidates for position one, the race will proceed to the general election without a primary.

Three candidates have filed to run for position 3, currently held by Corey Everett.

Alma Carmona currently serves on the city’s planning commission. Carmona applied to fill a vacancy on the council in 2022. Danae Valdez was ultimately selected by the council for that position.

Oscar Lopez was recently a passenger in an Adams County Fire District #5 truck that was involved in an accident on State Route 24. A vehicle driven by a third party struck the firefighting truck, causing it to roll. In 2024, the fire district named Lopez “most inspirational” at their annual awards banquet. According to ACFD #5 social media posts, Lopez joined the district in 2022.

According to archived election results, incumbent council member Corey Everett was elected to the council in 2013.

The three candidates for position three will face off in the August primary election. The top two will then advance to November’s general election.

John Lallas did not file to retain the position two seat. Marc Spohr is running unopposed in that election.
