MOSES LAKE – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says that a false report of a shooting in a Lowry Drive residence led to a police response early Sunday morning.

A 911 call was made reporting a shooting in the 1000 block of Lowry Drive. Grant County Deputies and Moses Lake Police officers surrounded the home an contacted a 16-year-old male who said he had been inside playing online video games when another player said they were calling the police. The home and another home next door were checked, and no evidence of a crime was found.

“Swatting” is the practice of making a fake or prank 911 call for the explicit purpose of causing an emergency law enforcement response.
