CONNELL – The Connell Police Department says an inmate was fatally stabbed in the early morning hours of April 29 at the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC). Officers were called to the CRCC at 1:41 a.m. for a reported assault involving weapons.
Officers determined that two cellmates were involved in a physical altercation, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Justus Cyr. Cyr’s 36-year-old cellmate, Christopher D. Yaconowas, detained and placed in restrictive housing without incident.
No corrections department staff or other inmates were harmed in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
