OTHELLO – A serious accident near Hatton at the intersection of Johnson Rd. and E. Hampton Rd. sent a 40-year-old Oregon man to Kadlec Regional Medical center with serious injuries on Wednesday evening. EMS crews initially received the call around 8:30 p.m., with Lind EMS responding. An update to the accident location resulted in Othello EMS responding instead.
According to radio traffic, a 2001 BMW registered in Oregon was traveling westbound on E. Hampton Rd. when it failed to stop at the T intersection with Johnson Rd. The vehicle traversed the intersection at a high rate of speed and entered a farm property where it passed a barn, several silos, and parked farm equipment, rolling several times. The BMW came to rest on its side at the edge of a field, with the driver pinned inside.
First responders reported that the driver was “in and out of consciousness” while EMS was en route. Lifeflight was dispatched to the scene. The helicopter departed for Kadlec with one patient, reportedly in stable condition.
Adams County Sheriff’s Department has not released information regarding this accident. We will update this story when and if they do.
