OTHELLO – The McManamon Rd. fire west of Othello burned 85 acres on Sunday, sparked by a single-vehicle accident around 4 p.m. The vehicle involved became engulfed in flames, which spread to Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands nearby.
Though the fire was contained after several hours which included efforts by aerial units, glowing embers and small spot fires could still be seen in the area on Monday evening. Fire crews were still observing the area on Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service Spokane Office has issued a red flag warning for fire weather from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Gusty winds and dry conditions are expected.
