Failure to yield leads to deadly crash near Washtucna

SPOKANE — A 24-year-old Dayton man is dead after failing to stop at an intersection on State Route 26 this morning according to the Washington State Patrol.

State troopers, Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Life Flight, and fire/rescue units were dispatched to the scene at about 11:03 Thursday morning. A 2021 Ford F150 driven by Matthew L. Cunnington, of Dayton, traveling south on Marcellus Rd. when Cunnington failed to stop at a stop sign. His vehicle collided with a semi truck that was driving westbound on SR-26.

Cunnington was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.
