OTHELLO — An early morning SR-26 accident claimed the life of a Kennewick woman near Othello on Thursday. The accident happened around 5:20 a.m. and closed both the highway and Booker Rd. for several hours.

Josefina Cruz, 38, was driving her 2016 Cadillac SRX northbound on Booker Rd. She failed to stop at the intersection with SR-26 and collided with the first of two trailers towed by an eastbound 2017 Peterbilt truck.

Cruz was deceased at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt. The Washington State Patrol is investigating.

The Cadillac, truck, and the first trailer came to rest on the highway’s shoulder. The second trailer detached and rolled.
