OTHELLO – An altercation sent one man to the hospital and another to jail after a shooting at an Othello business in the 2100 block of W. Bench Rd. on Saturday afternoon. A radio call for EMS went out at about 1:40 P.M. describing the shooting as a drive-by. It was later determined that the suspect was inside the business at the time of the shooting and did not leave the scene. Our CBN reporter arrived at the scene and witnessed a man dressed in all black laying on his side outside the business entry.

A release from ACSO stated that “Omar Negrete-Galvan (12/19/02) of Othello entered a store located at the southwest corner of the roundabout [W. Bench and SR-24]. Inside, a confrontation occurred between Omar and the store clerk, Johnathan Enriquez (05/15/01) of Othello. The cause of the altercation remains under investigation. During the conflict, both individuals displayed firearms. Omar sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.” At the scene, Sherrif Dale Wagner would not comment on any suspected gang ties to the incident.

Negrete-Galvan was arrested on suspicion of Attempted Assault in the First Degree and possession of a weapon apparently capable of producing bodily harm. He was transferred from Othello Community Hospital to another facility for specialized care.
