MATTAWA – Ashley Perin Sandoval, 40, of Mattawa was arrested by the Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team aka INET for several warrants out of Grant County and other states. She is charged with the controlled substance homicide of her own 16-year-old daughter in 2024.

Ahna Sandoval was found by her father unconscious and not breathing in her bedroom on June 4, 2024. Toxicology reports showed that the effects of fentanyl and methamphetamine had caused her death. Subsequent investigation revealed evidence, including text messages and videos, showing that Sandoval had a facilitated Ahna’s access to illegal drugs.

Sandoval is jailed in Grant County on suspicion of controlled substance homicide, distribution to persons under age eighteen, involving a minor in a drug transaction, and endangerment with a controlled substance.

According to a press release, “INET received support from the Washington Army National Guard counterdrug program, the Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program, the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, and Grant County corrections deputies” in their investigation.

“INET is investigating six suspected controlled substance homicides that have happened in Grant County communities since January. INET investigated 13 overdose deaths in 2024 and 8 in 2023,” the release said.
