MOSES LAKE – Several dozen people, frustrated by the policies and actions of the Trump administration, took to the streets at the intersection of E. Broadway and N Stratford today. The protest was part of a national day of protest under a grassroots movement called “Hands Off!”

Dave Hammond of Ephrata said, “We have to let Trump know that things keep going this way. His policies are hurtful and destructive.” Hammond said he would “love to ask the people who voted for him if they thought it would be like this.”

Hammond’s wife, Sylvia, said “there are people that he’s [Trump] is hurting every day, that’s why people are out here protesting.” Mrs. Hammond added that “he’s just vindictive and all about himself. The people are speaking. When people look back at this they will say ‘Why didn’t people do anything.'”

Kit Ketcham of Moses Lake, a retired pastor, said she joined the protest because “I’m afraid we’re gonna lose control over the kind of government we’ve had for the last 200 years.” She said that she considered all of the members of the Trump administration to be “a danger.”

The Hands Off! movement launched with nationwide protests on April 5. It is described as a mass mobilization of people against the direction the Trump administration is taking the United States.
