OTHELLO – Only one Othello School Board seat out of three up for election this year will have a contested race.
Birdie Fought and Juan “Jerry” Garcia both filed as candidates for the district 3 seat currently held by Ken Johnson. Johnson has announced his candidacy for mayor of Othello.
Lindsy Prows is unopposed for her current district 4 seat, and Aaron Gerber is unopposed to retain the district 1 seat.
The Othello School District Board of Directors is still seeking applicants to fill the vacant District 2 seat until the end of its regular term.
The filing window for local office elections closed on Friday, May 9.
