OTHELLO – An Othello High School student suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on the school campus on Thursday. The female student was transported to Othello Community Hospital, as a “red level trauma patient,” according to EMS radio traffic. Her current condition is unknown.

The driver of the vehicle was a 15-year-old unlicensed student, according to Othello police radio traffic. He was arrested at the scene pending charges of “no valid license, taking a motor vehicle without permission and form of vehicle assault,” according to OPD Chief David Rehaume. He was released upon request of Adams County Juvenile Service. Charges have been forward to the Adams County Prosecutor for review.

Law enforcement does not believe the driver took the vehicle with his parents’ permission.
