QUINCY, WA — A new fire has broken out in Central Washington near Qunicy this afternoon. The aptly named Highway 28 fire is burning along State Route 28 on Trinidad hill west of Quincy. The fire, possibly started by a car fire, has prompted a level 3 – GO – evacuation notice for rural Quincy. The area from W Rd. to the Douglas County line is included in the level 3 evacuation area.
According to Watch Duty, early estimates put the fire at 40 acres. Current windy, hot, and dry conditions are conducive to rapid expansion of this fire.
