OTHELLO — An Othello family has been displaced after their home was lost to fire on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency crews received a call to a trailer court at 70 E. Juniper St. at about 4:03 p.m. They found a shed fully engulfed in fire and immediately began their effort to douse the flames. Firefighters noticed something odd about the smoke from the shed and determined that an unknown type and quantity of fuel was stored in the shed. Loud pops could occasionally be heard.

The fire quickly spread to an adjacent mobile home, which was soon fully involved. The home is a total loss.
Efforts to fight the blaze lasted more than three hours in intense triple-digit heat. As of publication, no cause has been released. No injuries were reported. Grant County Fire District 4 sent a ladder truck and engine as support. We will update this story with more information as it becomes available, including any assistance efforts for the family.
